Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, has contributed over 1300 years to the history of the region. As hub of politics, economy, culture and religion in Tibet, Lhasa is a popular destination of the region. Many Buddhist scriptures, arts, historical relics, and crafts have been preserved in the city.
Begin with a flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa, giving you an the cloud’s view of the Himalaya. A Mountain Star Representative will meet you in airport and assist you in transferring to your hotel. You’ll start the tour by visiting the Jhokhang Temple, the bustling Barkhor Streets, the wonderful Potala palace and the Holy Derpung and Sera monasteries.
Day 1: Fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 2: In the morning you will visit Potala palace, which is the center religion and politics in Tibet. Built in the 7th century by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo, it was later renovated by the 5th Dalailama in the 17th century. Next you will take an afternoon visit to Sera monastery. The monastery was erected in 1419 by Jamchen Choeji, a disciple of Tsongkhapa, who was the founder of the Gelugpa sect. Overnight in your hotel.
Day 3: In the Morning, enjoy a visit Drepung monastery, the largest Monastery of the Gelugpa sect in Lhasa. It was erected in 1416 by Jamyang chojie, who was a disciple of Tsongkhapa. In the afternoon, journey to Jokhang Tempale and Barkhor market, the holiest shrine in Tibet which also houses of golden statue of the Shakyamuni Buddha. It was gifted to Tibet by the Chinese princess Wenchen. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Departure from Lhasa to airport and fly to Kathmandu or for your next destination.
